The evolution of our kitchen

One of the most exciting rooms to watch being built in our house was definitely the kitchen.  It by far had the most changes. Of course the most difficult though, was picking out the cabinets, granite, tile and grout. Attempting to pick out those things in a house that didn’t exist was odd and stressful. And making those decisions a month before our wedding added even more stress. But all in all, I’m happy with what we chose and it’s fun reliving part of that time in this post.

From the time the foundation went down, to the frame going up, to the insulation and drywall process, walking over to the kitchen area and imagining what it would be like was my favorite part.

This is me in the kitchen on September 16, 2011, 8 days before our wedding, when the frame had just gone up.

About a month later, we had insulation and electrical.

Three weeks after that, I didn’t think it was possible for me to be so happy to see drywall.

Three weeks after the drywall, the cabinets went in and I think I nearly cried.

One week later, the tile and counter tops went in.

We also had some guests come for a visit. Clearly that guy all the way on the right did not share in our excitement (hello brother).

One week later, the tile had grout and the brand new shiny, gorgeous, and amazing appliances were in!

And then, by December 17, 2011, our kitchen was finished and I was in love.

After we moved in, we made a lot of changes, so come back on Friday to find out what we did and how our kitchen looks today.

  1. I love your kitchen!, wow not many people get to see it built. I loved it new and can’t wait to see how you function in your kitchen one of the most important rooms in the house.
